RON BAUMTROG
Ron’s musical journey began in his early teens with classical piano lessons. When the British Invasion reshaped popular music in the mid-1960s, he was drawn to the harmonies, songwriting, and energy of artists like The Beatles. That inspiration led him to buy his first Hammond organ and begin playing with local musicians.
He later formed the rock band Amish, a Southern Ontario group that performed across high school dances, university pub nights, and summer beach venues. The band’s original songwriting eventually led to a recording contract with Sussex Records in Detroit, where they recorded during the same era and in the same studio environment connected to Bill Withers’ classic recording of “Lean On Me.”
After his time with the band, Ron continued developing his musicianship through an intensive three-year piano major program at the University of Western Ontario. Though he later stepped away from touring to run a family business, music remained a constant part of his life through writing, arranging, recording, and supporting community choir rehearsals and performances.
In the 1990s, Ron became deeply involved in digital music production. Over the years, he continued building his home studio, mastering digital audio workstations, recording techniques, and remastering workflows.
Today, Ron focuses his catalog on sync licensing, creating original music for film, television, advertising, and media. His sound brings together authentic keyboard arrangements, roots-driven instrumentation, blues and rock influence, and modern production tools.
